Albuquerque company to be paid more than $1 billion for border wall project

Southwest Valley Constructors, a construction company headquartered in Albuquerque, is raking in billions of federal dollars for work on the southern border.

On March 25, the U.S. Department of Defense awarded Southwest Valley Constructors a $524 million contract modification for building border barriers near Tucson, Arizona. The work is expected to be completed in September 2021.

That particular project — for almost 88 miles worth of barrier — is now worth a total of $1.8 billion.
