City moves to Plan B for ABQ Rapid Transit buses

Earlier this month, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said the controversial Albuquerque Rapid Transit fleet of 15 buses would be grounded until a thorough inspection.

Keller announced Tuesday that the bus fleet will be returned to China-based automobile manufacturer Build Your Dreams after the inspection confirmed problems with the electric buses’ brakes and batteries. BYD had been set to produce electric buses for the city for nearly $23 million.
