Could proposed redevelopment plan inject new life into Midtown Albuquerque?

Joani Jones started working at Crowne Plaza Albuquerque in 1993. Located at the intersection of Menaul Boulevard and University Boulevard, the Plaza, when it was built in 1971, sat at the far northeastern edge of the city.

Today, the 450-room hotel that includes a convention center, a restaurant and a lounge, is tucked between those two boulevards and the intersection of Interstate 25 and Interstate 40 — an intersection dubbed “The Big I.”
