Intel buys Israeli AI chip startup for $2B

Chipmaker Intel is boosting its artificial intelligence capabilities by buying Israeli-based Habana Labs for $2 billion.

The deal, rumored earlier this month, adds Habana’s training processors and software lines to Intel’s increasingly important AI-focused data center business. Habana will remain an independent business led by its existing management team. It will report to Intel’s Data Platforms Group.
