New Mexico posts another record-setting week for unemployment claims

New Mexico has recorded more than 72,000 initial unemployment claims in any single year eight times since 1987, according to U.S. Department of Labor data.

Driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, the state has recorded more than 72,000 initial claims over the last three weeks, according to state figures that do not take into account seasonal fluctuations in the workforce, released on Thursday by the labor department.
