Restaurants grapple with lost business, face decisions amid coronavirus restrictions

Myra Ghattas was prepared to enter what is typically a busy time of year at Slate Street Cafe. Now she’s wondering if it’s possible her restaurant will have to close altogether after more than 14 years.

Revenues plummeted between 60-70% in the last week, said Ghattas, the owner and general manager of Slate Street Cafe. And about 20 catering orders were canceled, leaving Slate Street Cafe in a precarious position where it has cut labor and employee hours, she said.
