Doug Parker began the second quarter earnings Thursday call thanking the “America West Airlines” employees for their hard work during the pandemic.
America West hasn’t been around for 15 years. Parker, the chairman and CEO of American Airlines, once led America West, taking over the carrier just days before the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks rocked the industry.
“That’s clearly Freudian,” Parker said regarding the slip. “This crisis certainly feels like the old America West days at times.”
