Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller announced in late March he will allocate $1.5 million to help reignite the tourism industry after it took a hard economic hit from Covid-19. According to the New Mexico Tourism Department, the state had an estimated loss of $3.5 billion in visitor spending in 2020, resulting in over $163 million of state and local taxes lost.
