Covid-19 has caused several New Mexico businesses to adapt rapidly developing changes to operations. A common casualty of those changes has been furloughs and layoffs of their employees.
For the last month, all “non-essential” businesses in New Mexico have been closed in an effort to stem the spread of the virus. And tens of thousands of people have filed for unemployment benefits in New Mexico in recent weeks, far exceeding the typical rate of claims.
