When it comes to the safest cities in New Mexico, “safest” is subjective.
New Mexico crime rates are much higher than the national rates for both violent and property crime, according to a new report from SafeWise. According to the site, New Mexico’s violent crime rate is 9.57 per 1,000 people, nearly double the national rate of 4.49. Property crime in New Mexico also is more than twice than the national average with 52.84 incidents per 1,000, compared to 27.11 nationally.
