The New Mexico Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s ability to levy fines against businesses and people who violate requirements and restrictions in emergency public health orders.
“The court has concluded that the Legislature has clearly given the governor that authority,” Chief Justice Michael Vigil said after oral arguments and lengthy deliberations streamed online on Tuesday.
