African American Chamber of Commerce celebrates grand opening

Dozens from the business community gathered Monday evening to celebrate the opening of the Albuquerque-based African American Chamber of Commerce, in a concerted effort officials said was overdue in town.

“We really don’t have a focus for black businesses” locally, said President and CEO Theresa Carson, and the chamber wants to provide that.

She, along with other officials, spearheaded the effort in March 2018 after leaving her position as supply chain manager at Sandia National Laboratories.…
