Albuquerque Starbucks unionizes as company agrees to bargaining talks

New Mexico became the 34th state to have a unionized Starbucks location on Thursday.

In a 10-7 vote, employees of the Rio Grande and I-40 Starbucks in Albuquerque voted successfully to unionize, according to a count by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

“I think our victory here shows that, despite intimidation from corporate, we will stand together to fight for better wages, and working conditions,” Jacob Sherwood, a barista in the organizing committee at the store said in a statement.
