Albuquerque tech firm's acquisition could open opportunity for worldwide growth

An out-of-state company struck a deal last month with an Albuquerque firm that makes package shipping a little cooler — in temperature, that is.

NanoCool, founded in 2005 by Albuquerque entrepreneur Doug Smith, was acquired on Feb. 1 by California-based Pelican BioThermal. The Albuquerque company develops and manufactures containers used mainly for the transport of biological samples that need to be kept cold.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
