As NM governor plans for special session next week, health officials begin efforts to staff remodeled Gibson medical facility

State health officials expect to open the old Lovelace hospital at the Gibson Medical Center in Albuquerque on Friday as a recovery facility for New Mexicans recovering from Covid-19 infections.

According to current plans, six patients will be transferred to the facility at first, as health officials evaluate patient needs amid the nonstop rise in Covid-19 cases in New Mexico, New Mexico Human Services Secretary Dr. David Scrase said during a news conference on Thursday.
