Katie Farmer will take over as president and CEO of BNSF Railway Jan. 1, succeeding current chief executive Carl Ice, the company announced Monday afternoon.
Farmer will also assume leadership of the board of directors for the Texas-based rail giant. Ice will remain on the board after he retires at the end of the year.
“BNSF has long been a cost leader and we will ensure that continues into the future,” Farmer said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to continuing BNSF’s success.”
