City Council votes on plastic bag ban

In a 5-3 vote, the Albuquerque City Council voted Monday night to approve a ban on plastic bags — but not before changes were made to the ban, according to KOB.

While plastic bags will be banned, foam to-go containers, plastic straws and dry cleaner bags were exempted, reported KOB.

If Mayor Keller signs the ordinance, the ban will go into effect in 2020.
