Santa Fe startup Descartes Labs is teaming up with the state government to track and manage methane emissions across the Permian Basin, a booming oil region in southeast New Mexico and west Texas.
The new tech was announced Thursday at Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s 2030 Summit, an event aimed at gathering leaders in the energy industry to address state sustainability goals. Descartes calls the solution a “data refinery” that combines multiple datasets for the mapping and modeling of emissions.
