The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is held each year starting the first week in October, attracting almost 600 balloons and 1,000 pilots, according to the organization. Last year 887,970 people were in attendance, Business First reported.
Two of the 14 planned events last year were canceled due to weather conditions, and this year could result in more cancellations due to El Nino, said Jorge Torres, chief meteorologist at KOB 4.
