Soon, employees of the city of Albuquerque will soon have the benefit of spending time with their newborn kids — with pay.
On Thursday, Mayor Tim Keller signed a bill that grants up to 12 weeks of paid parental and sick leave for city employees when they, their spouse or domestic partner have a baby or become adoptive or foster parents within six months. The bill was passed through the City Council on a unanimous vote earlier this month with Councilor Pat Davis as its sponsor.
