When Rob Gonzales was 13 years old, his family moved from Philadelphia to Albuquerque.
His mother found out she was adopted, and her birth parents were in the Duke City. Gonzales said she wanted a fresh start and an opportunity to build a relationship with her newfound family. Unfortunately, that didn’t go as planned. Instead, the single mother and her four children — Gonzales being the oldest — ended up homeless.
They stayed at the Joy Junction shelter while his mom got back on her feet.…
