New Mexico Covid-19 indicators show some increases, but no changes to restrictions in place

State officials believe changes to New Mexico’s emergency public order and a three-day holiday weekend contributed to increases in some key metrics used to track the fight against the spread of Covid-19 infections.

The rate of spread in the state — essentially how many people become infected when coming in contact with an infected person — increased to 1.09 as of Sept. 22, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said Thursday during a news conference.

The state’s goal is 1.05.
