When it comes to states most dependent on Uncle Sam, the Land of Enchantment is No. 1 — again.
New Mexico topped WalletHub’s list of the most federally dependent states for another year. New Mexico was No. 1 last year and was No. 3 in 2017.
The personal-finance website looked at three key metrics for its ranking: return on taxes paid to the federal government; federal funding as a share of state revenue; and share of federal jobs.
