New Mexico to reduce call center incentives

Arguing they don’t generate enough high wages, the state said it’s cutting its economic development incentives for call centers.

New Mexico Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Alicia J. Keyes told lawmakers Thursday the state was reducing Local Economic Development Act funding to call centers, according to the Associated Press.

Now, the maximum the state will offer call centers is $1,000 per job, down from $6,000 in recent grants.
