The public health mandate requiring that all New Mexicans wear a face covering in public or be fined has presented a new challenge to New Mexico businesses during Covid-19.
On July 1, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that people in the state will face a fine if they don’t follow the mandate, in place since May 16, to wear a mask when in public to help slow the spread of the virus. The state’s businesses must work to enforce the state’s rules or be subject to a $100 fine and a misdemeanor citation.
