San Miguel County becomes New Mexico's first to move from Red to Yellow under new Covid-19 system for restrictions

San Miguel County became the first New Mexico county to move from the red tier to a less restrictive tier under the state’s new framework for lifting Covid-19 restrictions.

The county — just east of Santa Fe county — lowered its 14-day average positivity rate between Nov. 17 and Nov. 30 just enough to meet the required threshold for moving into the Yellow tier.
