It’s easy to become an outdoorsperson in New Mexico. Growing up, it was a rare summer weekend that my dad didn’t take me to my grandmother’s house to fish the Rio Chiquito. It seemed like my friends and I went camping every weekend in the Pecos or around Taos. Winter was time for skiing. In spring we went fishing again and went inner-tubing during runoff.
