The Albuquerque BioPark Zoo has finished building its penguin exhibit and project officials estimated the animals will have a major impact on the park.
Shelle Sanchez, director of cultural services for the city of Albuquerque, said the BioPark is expecting the exhibit to increase its number of annual memberships by at least 10 percent. Bringing penguins to the desert was a major investment for the BioPark, according to city of Albuquerque COO Lawrence Rael.
