United Airlines to clean its cockpits using ultraviolet lights

United Airlines said it will begin cleaning its flight decks using ultraviolet lights.

The Chicago carrier (Nasdaq: UAL) said it will clean its planes’ cockpits using handheld ultraviolet C (UVC) lighting technology made by the American Ultraviolet company of Lebanon, Indiana.

United said it relied upon its partner, the Cleveland Clinic, to come up with the ultraviolet light cockpit cleaning protocol.
